TECHNICOLOUR & SEDUCTIVE
Box Cards, 2010
One month. Many days. More snoozes.
As the day draws its own curtains; darkness. Withdraw to the warm comfort of bed. The radio alarm clock set to early. Select an FM radio station at random. Sleep beckons, calls and takes over……….
A small click and then a hum. Sound interrupts slumber. First sounds escape, first words of the day work their way into my cochlea. Mushy sleep-brain wakes. Lean out of bed. Eyes open just a crack. Reach for pen and pad. One line, one snippet, a conversation, a line from a song, a monologue, a news item, a headline, a jingle, a report. Words strung together in the wooly confusion of waking.
Picked from the deck, the cards are stand alone statements whose meanings without context are arbitrary, and sometimes surreal, seductive, and technicolour.
